Take a Stand--A Parker One-Shot

Hey I was in spanish today and this just came to me. Please tell me what you think.

I make my way into the worst class of my day, Spanish. I slowly walk to my seat and sit down. I watch as everyone else is jumping and dancing. *great, she absent again.* I hate it when Mrs. Del-Risco isn’t here because the class goes crazy and they act horrible for the substitute.

“Hey Kid. Why don’t you come sit over here?” asks Tory one of the many seniors in the class and also the class clown. I look up from where I’ve started my work.

“Ugh No thanks.” I reply looking back down at my work. He walks over to my desk.

“Hey you little punk. When I ask you to do something you do it.”

“Whatever.” I say back. Just then our teacher for the day walks in and it starts. He walks up to the bored and writes Mr. Brine. I look over to where everyone else in the class sits, they’ve moved even though we’re supposed to stay in our assigned seats. Mr. Brine clears his throat to speak and everyone turns to look at him.

“Hello Class. My name is Mr. Brine and I’m substituting for Mrs. Del-Risco today…”

“No you don’t say. I just thought you wrote your name up there for fun.” interrupts Brian, another senior, to tell the truth I’m the only freshman in the class. Mr. Brine over looks this outbursts and picks up where he left off.

“To tell you a little about myself I served in the army and retired 6 years ago. Since my retirement I’ve had a few odd end jobs.”

“Look guys we have ourselves a peace hater.” says Emily smirking at Mr. Brine. I watch him shrug it off and take a seat at his desk giving up on the introduction.

“Hey guys do you know what army stands for?“ asks Julie, “ Ain't Ready to be a Marine Yet.” I listen while the class bursts into laughter.

“He was a dirt eater.” yells Tory. I look up and watch as the class laughs at his expense. I can’t take it anymore. I stand up and walk over to their side of the room.

“Leave him alone.” I say as Tory walks up to me.

“Why did you say dork?”

“I said leave him alone.” I answer stepping closer to him. I don’t care that he’s a foot taller and has at least a good 60 pounds on me.

“What are you going to do about?” He asks pushing me back against the wall.

“Look the man served in the army. He risked his life for jerks like you and this is how you repay him? He could have died. Did you ever think about that when you we’re making jokes at his expense? He’s one of the reasons we have schools and freedom of speech. He’s the reason we’re not constantly under attack.” I answer pushing him back.

“Why don’t you just shut up.” He says pushing me back.

“Because someone needs to put you in your place and I guess it’ll have to be me because I’m done listening to you put him down.” I reply pushing him back.

“Oh really. Like you’ll do anything I’ve picked on you all year and you haven’t said a word so what make you think I’m afraid of your little threat?”

“Because I’m not allowed to fight for myself, but I can fight for others and you’re not that scary.” I answer and before I know it I can feel his fist hitting my jaw. I ball my fist up and hit him once knocking him to the ground. My dad and Dr. Bones had taught me to fight, so this guy wasn’t a big deal. I take a step back and watch him stand up and walk towards me, but before anything else can happen Mr. Hendrix, the principal, walks in and grabs us both by the arm and takes us out of the room.

“Mr. Booth?” Calls Mr. Brine. I turn around and see a look of true appreciation on his face.

“Sir?” I answer.

“Thank you.”

“You don’t deserve to be treated like that.”

Awww, big props... Not many good Parker stories out there and you wrote a very cute one... Glad to see Booth and Bones' parenting skills are up to par
